This is why every argument goes in circles
Needs can never conflict with each other.
Only strategies can conflict.
So when a wife needs x (eg relaxation) and a husband needs y (eg stability) — those aren’t opposites. They can coexist. They don’t cancel each other out.
But two specific strategies for meeting those needs? Those can absolutely conflict.
This is why so many arguments go nowhere. You’re fighting about a specific strategy. Not about what it represents. Not about what you actually need.
And when you’re fighting at the level of strategies, nobody wins — because nobody’s actually being heard.
When you can drop down to the level of needs, something opens up. You stop arguing, start hearing each other, and start problem-solving together.
Where do you find yourself arguing about the strategy instead of the need underneath it?
Supporting your sensitivity,
Rena
