When it feels impossible to trust yourself
Here’s a game many of us play:
Your gut says: “That doesn’t feel right.” You validate yourself: “Yes, something is off.” Inner critical voice says: “But you’re just being oversensitive.”
So you check with someone else: “Did that seem off to you?” They say: “Yes, that was off.” Inner critical voice says: “They’re just being nice to you.”
You see what’s happening?
A perfect closed loop where you can NEVER trust your own perception. Because:
The inner critic creates conditions where you can never be right about your own experience.
So here’s what I’m practicing and invite you to join me: Trusting the first voice. The gut response. The somatic knowing that registers before the mind jumps in to question it.
It’s not always 100% accurate. But the alternative – never trusting myself – is worse.
Your body knows things your mind will spend hours (days/weeks/years/decades) trying to disprove.
