When your body says “not yet”
Your mind is racing with questions: “What should I do? How do I handle this? Should I address it now? Wait? Say something? Stay quiet?”
The thoughts spiral. Each question leads to three more. Nothing feels clear.
Then you drop into your body.
And it says, simply: “Not yet. Let this settle.”
Not avoidance. Not “deal with it later.” Just: Let it settle.
This is somatic wisdom.
Your mind wants to FIX, SOLVE, DECIDE, KNOW. Right now. Immediately. Give me the answer!
Your body knows when to act and when to wait. When to speak and when to let things metabolize. When to push and when to let time do its work.
“Let it settle” isn’t the same as “I’m avoiding dealing with this.”
One is wisdom. One is fear.
How do you tell the difference?
Avoidance has urgency underneath it. A desperate quality. “Don’t make me look at this.”
Settling has spaciousness. A trust. “I’ll know when it’s time.”
If your body is saying “not yet” – even when your mind is screaming “NOW” – listen to your body.
It knows things your thoughts are too busy to notice.
