The time I kept deleting my webinar notes (and why authenticity matters more than perfection in our work)

I wrote the content for my recent somatic parts work webinar over and over and over again.

Each time I’d start writing, I’d get stuck at the same point. I kept deleting everything because nothing felt… fun.

I had told myself that whatever I created had to be enjoyable for me, and if I was going to do something that didn’t feel fun, I simply couldn’t do it.

Finally, what DID feel fun was creating a list of questions I wanted to explore, then choosing the ones that sparked my curiosity in the moment.

This reminds me about our work with clients: Even in our professional offerings, there’s wisdom in following what feels alive and generative rather than forcing ourselves into rigid structures.

When we show up authentically – when we follow what genuinely feels engaging to us – we create space for more authentic connection with our clients.

When we force ourselves into predetermined boxes that don’t honor what’s actually moving through us, we disconnect from the very presence we’re trying to cultivate.

Our clients can sense the difference between when we’re going through the motions and when we’re genuinely engaged with them.

The body knows. The body has opinions about what it wants to create, explore, and share. This applies to you as the practitioner just as much as it applies to your clients.

In B’Etzem, we spend significant time helping you develop this capacity to track your own aliveness in session – because your embodied presence is your most powerful tool.

Your authentic engagement with the work creates the field of safety your clients need to drop into their own authentic experience.

What wants to feel more alive in your work with clients? What would shift if you trusted your embodied sense of what each session needs?

With curiosity,
