Getting out of our heads

The best way I know to heal emotional wounds is to get out of our heads.

When we stay up there, we’re looking at our lives from the outside in.

We’re judging them. We’re perceiving our situations through whatever lens we fall back on, whether it’s our past or how we imagine the outside world sees us.

But there is another option.

We can start to get a sense of our lives from the inside out.

When we’re inside of our bodies, perceiving how our bodies are sensing our lives from the inside out, something shifts.

There’s less judgment.
There’s more acceptance.
There’s more compassion.

These buzzwords get thrown around all the time. But this actually changes our brains. It changes the way that we start to perceive ourselves over time.

When we can rewire our nervous systems through sensing what’s going on inside of our bodies, our whole perception of our lives starts to shift.

Stop looking from the outside. Step inside.

This week’s book recommendation: If this email resonates with you, I recommend I Know I’m In There Somewhere by Helene Brenner. Brenner writes about the inner voice that gets buried under everyone else’s expectations, fears, and “shoulds” — and how to find your way back to it through learning to listen to what’s already there. A warm, practical guide to coming home to yourself. Order a copy here — this is an affiliate link which doesn’t cost you anything extra and helps support my work.
