[Thursday] Body image, intimacy, and the art of inner listening
A few weeks ago, I asked you where you feel most disconnected and stuck in your day-to-day life. Your responses were incredibly honest, and there was one intersection that many of you touched on—a place that feels deeply tender, often frustrating, and highly private.
It’s the intersection of body image and intimacy.
When we talk about being “at war with our body,” it doesn’t just affect how we look in the mirror. It follows us right into marriage and intimacy.
It sounds like this:
If you’ve ever felt this way, you know how painful it is to feel so divided from your own body when you want nothing more than to be close.
True intimacy requires us to be in our bodies, feeling from the inside-out. But when we are stuck in negative body image, we are trapped in our heads, looking at ourselves from the outside-in.
Because this topic is so layered, I’ve decided to create a special multi-part series of B’Etzem Foundations classes dedicated entirely to navigating body image, intimacy, and the power of interoception.
To make this upcoming series as impactful and relevant as possible, I need your help—and I want to protect your privacy.
While I build this upcoming series behind the scenes using your feedback, our regular journey continues.
If you want to start learning how to shift out of “survival mode” and into your body’s inner listening system, join me for our next live class:
Want to go deeper? Immediately following the free class, I’ll be hosting a 45-minute live coaching session ($35) using Focusing.

This week’s book recommendation: If this email resonates with you, I recommend Focusing by Eugene Gendlin. Gendlin, the founder of Focusing, teaches a simple but profound practice: how to turn toward what’s already inside you with openness and not-knowing, and let something emerge that thinking alone could never reach. It’s the art of emptying the mind so the body can speak. A book that quietly changes how you relate to yourself.
