346 – Somatic Mindfulness Practice: Your Recipe for Being Heard

This is a body-centered practice that helps you identify exactly what YOU need to feel truly heard and understood.
Most of us say “I just want to be heard” without knowing what that actually means for our unique system. Does being heard mean eye contact? Nodding? Reflecting back your exact words? A certain tone of voice? Something else entirely?

In this 9-minute practice, you’ll be guided to:

Remember a moment when you felt deeply heard and understood
Notice what that feels like in your body
Identify the specific qualities of what the other person did that impacted you
Find the 1-2 most potent elements that made the difference for your unique sensitivity
Put into words your exact recipe for feeling heard
Practice formulating a specific request you can use in future conversations

This practice helps you move from vaguely saying “I need you to listen to me” to being able to say exactly what you need: “I need you to listen by gazing into my eyes” or “I need you to reflect back what I’m saying” or whatever YOUR system specifically needs.

When to Use This Practice:

  • After listening to “Why Everyone Deserves to Be Treated Like They’re Sensitive”
  • When you keep having conversations where you don’t feel heard
  • Before an important conversation where you want to be understood
  • When you’re frustrated because “nobody listens to me”
  • To discover what YOUR unique system needs (not what you think you should need)
  • When you want to be able to clearly ask for what you need
  • To honor your specific sensitivity and what helps you feel seen
