An ongoing edge extravaganza

Going to the edge is not a place where we hang out for too long. Once we’ve gone there, we’ve gone there. We can hang out for maybe 30 seconds to a minute, and then it’s already old news — our systems have already integrated it. The shift happens. And it feels good, because we got there. But now there’s a new edge.

It loses its edge 😉 as we stay with it.

How often does that happens in a session? It’s going to be different for everyone and in every situation.

When I’m having my own session, there are times where I’m just not in the mood for Focusing. Not in the mood to go into my body. Not interested in going to the edge. I just want to talk.

And then there are days where I can spend 45 minutes in a deep Focusing session, and I keep going to one edge, and the other, and the other, and the other, and the other — it’s just this ongoing edge extravaganza, where I keep excavating more and more edges.

And every possibility in between.

It breaks my heart when clients come to me and say, I think I’m doing this wrong. I’m not doing it right, because this isn’t happening and that’s not happening. (Which, by the way, wow — look at that! What a great opportunity. That could be a new edge to go into.) But first I want to normalize for them that our sessions do not flow like a beautiful choreographed dance. It’s this… messy… excavation. Each time.

You don’t know what’s gonna come, you don’t know what you’re gonna encounter.

And that’s part of the excitement about it. 😄
